Hi there

We're thinking of getting a small awning for our T2. We don't want a huge 'tent on the side of a van' thing, just something that can be used as an extra room.

Does anyone have any recomendations/awnings to avoid?

Also are there any pros and cons between the types of fitting (figure of 8 vs pole and clamp)?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Hi, we have a Khyam Motordome Tourer awning.  Basically 2.5m square in 'footprint' with and extra bit that joins the awning to van.  They say it takes only ten minutes to put up - we take about thirty probably, but its a great awning.  There is a bigger one - the Classic, which is 3m square.  We have an inner tent that sleeps two, and use that if the grandchildren are with us.  See YouTube for a video of someone putting one up.  They are like no other awning!  Not cheap, but thoroughly recommended.  Hope that helps.

Forgot to say - we use it onthe side of our T2.  It's easy to fit to side of van with three figure of eight strips, although parking the right distance away can be a bit of a game!  It's perfect if you want somewhere to sit out of the sun/rain or want to leave stuff on site when you go out for the day.
